“I am a somatic coach. The word ‘Soma’ means body, and I teach workshops and trainings worldwide using breathwork and other body-centered techniques that help people feel their truth, express their vision and live who they really are.

In the last 15 years of coaching clients all over the world, I keep seeing how so many people get tangled up in knots around money.

Years ago I was running a marketing and design agency in Europe, and dealing every day with making offers, managing finances, and providing services for small and medium sized companies. In our first years, I was working 16-hour days, struggling with clients, and feeling totally exhausted.

When I finally looked at my emotional patterns, I discovered all sorts of fears, feelings of not being good enough, guilt and perfectionism which were sabotaging my growth. It felt like I had one foot on the gas and one foot on the brake, and no marketing gimmick could get that to change.

Another way to understand what is means to live an inspired life is by being aware of how to find happiness.  I spent many years – decades, in fact, looking for happiness.  I was a self-help/personal development addict.  This workshop, that  book,  this teacher.  And while I clearly learned a lot along the way, it wasn’t until I woke up to the notion that happiness is an inside job.  It is not something out there that I have to find.  Rather happiness blossoms when I free myself of  the “I’m not enough” beliefs that seemed to be hard-wired into my psyche.

Happiness is a state of being, not of doing.  It is nourished and strengthened when we acknowledge, embrace and celebrate our gifts, talents, skills and abilities – and, we all have gifts!  Happiness is not a constant state of being where we arrive and then our life becomes static.  Happiness is a dynamic state of being.  When we notice that we are not feeling happy, rather than getting trapped in feeling victimized by the circumstance we are facing and the “I’m not enough” beliefs that are echoing through our mind – this state if dis-ease and dis-stress is a call for us to evolve a pattern of the past and upgrade the software of our mind.

How to love yourself is the mission of Loving  Yourself University – and Cassie Parks is the visionary creator, offering information, tools and inspiration to nourish the most important relationship we’ll ever have – the relationship with ourselves.  In addition to being inspired by Cassie’s work and honored to be a faculty member of Loving Yourself University, as a Self Esteem Expert I know that our relationships with ourselves forms the blueprint for all the relationships in our life.  As a teen I wrote in my journal, What would the world be like if everyone loved themselves?  Little did I know at that time that this question would inform my personal and professional life so deeply.

I woke up this morning with every intention to be living on purpose.  With my to-do list (which I like to think of as my “done-list”) in mind I went into action getting chores done, preparing for calls I had scheduled and focusing on writing I wanted to complete – which did not include a blog post today.  I thought, this is the meaning of empowerment – living on purpose.

After my first meeting of the day and two phone calls, I sat down at my computer and noticed that a friend had sent me a video to watch.  I clicked on the link and immediately my heart and mind was captured by what I saw on Kony 2012.  My priorities for the day shifted – still clearly reflecting my desire for living on purpose – and now connected so directly with my big vision to be a mighty expression of love in the world – to take action in support of greater peace and happiness for all beings here now and for the generations to come.

After watching Kony 2012 I have been moved to action.  So this not-planned for post includes the following request:

Amidst horrific acts of violence in the world there is so much good, there is so much love and there are simple actions that each of us can take as a reflection of living on purpose and breathing life into the meaning of empowerment.  I am continually reminded that in the face of violence, and the constant barrage by politicians and news pundits of what is wrong in the world – that I can hear and see these circumstances as a call for love – and focus my energy on my inspired life vision to be a mighty expression of love in the world.

Are you living on purpose today?

As the author of The Inspired Life daily inspiration is a crucial ingredient in living my inspired life vision.  Since The Inspired Life was published last fall I have been getting a daily dose of self esteem builders and spiritual awakening when I am a guest on radio talk programs.  By focusing on living an inspired life in radio interviews and conversations my inspired life vision is reinforced.

Monday I had been feeling overwhelmed – so much to do, so little time to do it.  All I really wanted to do was to eat chocolate and watch movies!  Instead I went out for a walk with a friend and was renewed.  Tuesday morning I woke with a Yes, I Can attitude that was further reinforced by being a guest on Sterling Spin with Liz Sterling on The Art of Living Well Radio.  As part of my preparation for the conversation Liz and I were going to have, I listened to her interview with her first guest, Kandee G, America’s #1 Vision Specialist.  Listening to their conversation was clearly a daily dose of inspiration and the perfect lead-in to the conversation I then had with Liz.  (Listen to our conversation)

Last Wednesday was our 1st Movie Night at my un-Church Church – The New Thought Spiritual Center of Eastern Long Island.  We are choosing films that are inspiring, educational and support the interconnectedness of all beings.  I’d heard about this film when I was in Los Angeles last June the day before I broke bones in my foot.  It has been popping into mind since then and I was thrilled when I got to choose the film for Movie Night.  There were about 40 of us gathered in Southampton, NY and we’re still talking about the film.
