A Confession

One of the Ah-Ha’s I had this weekend at a very powerful workshop – Money Breakthrough Coaching, (masterfully facilitated by Jesse Koren, the co-founder of Rejuvenate Training) is that I have been a self-help junkie and addict since 1966 – and I really know about self-help.

One experience that really helps us to transform and truly know that we are not alone is  to witness and be invited into another’s story, about themselves, others and life.  We get to learn about what human behavior and being human is like.  All my life people – 10′s of thousands – have shared their intimate journey with me – their dreams, desires and their demons.  And I have learned that what is most personal is most general.

So, through my self-help addiction I have learned that it is our relationship with money that reflects our experience with money… What’s your relationship with money?

Some of my recent thoughts about money:

Needless to say, I’ve been thinking about money – isn’t this an understatement? Money has been a hot topic all over the planet these days – for the past few years, maybe forever.  So Money Breakthrough Coaching called my name.  I believe that to resolve the financial crisis we each have to be at peace with money, be open to the flow of abundance in our hearts, minds and spirit.

Many years ago I had a conversation with money (this exercise was recommended by Olivia Mellan.  I started out by writing, Hi Money – I want a loving relationship with you – Help me.  Money and I wrote back and forth and the final sentence from money was: “If you want me to be the best me I can be for you, then you have to be the best you that you can be for me.”

While I have had a good relationship with money during my life (Aaahh*), I am ready to breakthrough the glass ceiling that I’ve imposed as I say, “Yes” to my inspired life vision – of being a citizen and leader of Inspiration Nation – the world community committed to living their Inspired Life Vision. – (Learn what’s required to live an Inspired Life during a free 2-part teleclass – Say YES to your Inspired Life.)

During the past few months I have been thinking that a breakthrough in the financial crisis that is being felt throughout the world cannot be solved by politicians in a room – coming up with a plan.  The difficulty of this approach to reach a lasting solution has been made so clear, this week, when a small group of Democrats and Republicans here in the U.S. couldn’t reach an agreement on a financial plan of action.  From my point of view – each group is so attached to their point of view that there really isn’t space for possibility to be nourished and birthed.  Rather, politicians seem to continue to do the same thing they have been doing for decades, possibly eons – blame one another – and expect a different result.  Isn’t this what Einstein defined as insanity?

So I invite you to join me and commit to being a Co-Creative Partner with the Universe* (whose, one verse is YES) – and explore your relationship with money and transform it into a loving relationship.  Here are some questions that have been very useful for me to explore during the past few decades…

  • What did I learn about money from my Dad, Mom and the significant people in my life?
  • What do I believe about money?
  • What do you believe about yourself in relation to money?
  • What is my Inspired Life Vision?
  • Who would I have to be to live my Inspired Life Vision? – What would I believe about myself, others and life?

I’m eager to read your thoughts, comments and insights.

* based on Jesse Koren’s 3 Level’s of Relationship with Money:

  • Oh Shit!
  • Aaahh
  • Co-Creation

Mena, When we realize that it is our relationship with money that often needs to be transformed before we can have an experience of abundance then we know where to focus our attention. What is your relationship with money?
